The Junior Mixed Martial Arts Program at Daniel Sterling Martial Arts and Fitness provides the opportunity to learn mixed martial arts in a comfortable but challenging atmosphere. Our curriculum not only embodies effective and powerful self-defense skills, but it also emphasizes the proper attitude to use these skills appropriately.

Respect: We teach and demonstrate the importance of respecting others. Respect doesn’t come from fear or awe; it stems from genuine courtesy, consideration, value and thoughtfulness. We emphasize respect and gratitude towards parents and other adults in their lives, i.e. teachers, caregivers, grandparents.

Concentration: while our martial arts classes are fun and high energy, they also require a certain amount of concentration. Students are required to learn specific forms and techniques that demand attention and focus. These concentration and focus skills have a direct relation to their schoolwork.

Parents often report to us that their children’s performance in school improves as a result of their martial arts training.

Personal Responsibility: We encourage our students to take responsibility for themselves and for their actions. We believe that this type of positive thinking promotes excellence. Students feel that they determine their own success and that they can excel at anything they choose.

Goal Setting: We strongly believe that martial arts is a great way to learn about settings and achieving goals. There is a long term goal, Black Belt, and short term goals, 5 tips on each belt and 12 belts to Black Belt. Students are responsible for knowing their curriculum in order to move to the next belt rank. At each tip and at each belt they are learning the power of success.

The curriculum at Daniel Sterling Martial Arts and Fitness, which is a blend of various martial arts, is designed to give your child the best and most complete instruction possible.

Each discipline contributes a unique aspect to the training making your child a well-rounded martial artist.

Tae Kwon Do: This traditional discipline was developed in Korea over 1,000 years ago and has since become one of the most popular martial arts. While Tae Kwon Do is well known for its dynamic kicking, it also encompasses a wide range of techniques to include punches, stances, blocks, strikes and sparring. Tae Kwon Do also features forms, which link movements together as part of a set pattern.

Mauy Thai Kickboxing: Muay Thai Kickboxing, also known as Thai boxing, is a martial art that originated in Thailand. Muay Thai has a similar style to western boxing. However, Thai Kickboxing is unique in the way it approaches close quarters fighting; kicks  and knees are a part of the offensive and defensive strategy.

Streetwise Self Defense Concepts: This life-saving, real world, personal protection system focuses on the skills your child will hopefully never need. Effective and safe techniques are drilled until they become second nature.

By linking these arts together, our professional and highly skilled staff gradually guides your child toward the improved fitness and realistic self-defense. The classes are designed so that your child will develop strength, coordination, flexibility, and self-confidence.
